About Suzie Chhouk
I was born and raised in Long Beach, CA, and attended public schools throughout elementary and secondary school. After graduating Long Beach Polytechnic High School, I decided to attend International Christian University, which required me to move to Mitaka City, Tokyo, Japan - where I am currently based.
I have had many great opportunities to be involved in the educational experiences of others. In high school, I tutored middle school and fellow high school students in pre-algebra, algebra, geometry
geometry, calculus, and chemistry. I also volunteered at the Rancho Los Cerritos where, for wonderful three years, I gave countless tours to children as a teen docent and worked at their summer camps as a teen coordinator. Rancho Los Cerritos recognized me as an Outstanding Teen Volunteer.
In Japan, I have worked mainly as an ESL teacher. Altogether I have taught almost 100 students, both adults and children as young as three. I teach privately at students' homes, at a small English conversation school, and at an English language school. I have taught using textbooks and curricula provided to me as well as materials and lesson plans I created specifically for my students.
I love to share knowledge. I enjoy creative writing and thinking of analogies for the less usual and more difficult (science) concepts. I dabble in ballroom dancing, drawing, cycling, and sewing.
